Pioneers (Yr 9 - 21yrs) has a focus on helping girls develop into young women while encouraging them in leadership, teaching them life skills and allowing them to grow in their faith

Awards

A pioneer can earn 4 triangles: blue, green, red and gold.

Each award symbolises “Christ is King”. Each Award includes skills, service and spiritual aspects while catering for each girl’s specific interests and skills.


Pioneer Pin

The Pioneer Pin is the highest National Award a girl can receive.

The requirements are

  • Receiving all 4 Pioneer triangles
  • At least one Gold Service Award earned in Pioneers
  • Completion of Preliminary Leadership training and one Advanced braid.
  • 6 months in company service
  • Successful interview by panel
  • Assessment by Chaplain/Minister
  • Application endorsed by both State and National levels

Queen's Award

The Highest International Award a girl can obtain.

Age: Girls must be 15 before commencement and no older than 25 at completion.

The requirements are

  • To have earned a Pioneer Pin prior to Final Interview
  • Receive at least 3 Gold Service Awards in Pioneers
  • An initial interview
  • 6 months of voluntary service
  • Church involvement
  • 2 initiative tasks
  • A major project or work
  • Written examination
  • Final interview

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an award that pionners and leaders can undertake. In Australia the Award is managed at a national level. Each State in provides the opportunities for pioneers and leaders to participate.

Preliminary Leadership Training (PLT)

PLT is an opportunity for girls to grow into leadership through 6 different courses offered throughout their years in pioneers. PLT is also a great opportunity for girls from different companies to meet and interact with each other while forming long lasting friendships.

Pioneers begin with the Preliminary Leadership course, then they can choose to participate in further courses: Recreational, Spiritual, Indoor Camping, Administrative and Girls’ Brigade Leadership.

Each course is run through either a camp held once yearly, or weekend courses are held at State Office.

Fonomarae

Fonomarae, meaning ‘getting together’ and ‘meeting place’, is a bi annual event. Pioneers and Young Leaders from all over Australia come together in one place for a week to have fun, worship, meet new people and grow in faith.

In 2014 Fonomarae with be held in Queensland in January!
